Pinderfields paediatric unit Christmas party cheque presentationPinderfields Hospital paediatric unit

BIG-HEARTED Rotarians have helped make the party go with a swing for children in Pinderfields Hospital over Christmas.

A combined donation totalling 500 will be used to pay for a festive party and gifts for about 30 children. Half of this has been given by members of Wakefield Rotary Club and half by Livesey Associates, chartered quantity surveyors based in East Ardsley.

A 250 cheque was presented to the paediatric unit on Friday 14th November 2008 by Roland Mold, chairman of the club's vocational services committee, whose secretary is Stuart Livesey. He handed over a second cheque on behalf of his company.

Ward sister Chris Milward said: "Kind, considerate people make a big difference to children in hospital over Christmas. If we didn't have donations like this we wouldn't be able to give a party."

She and hospital play specialist Rita Cammidge both thanked Rotarians and Livesey Associates for the gifts.

The club's efforts for children in hospital will continue with a collection of toys. Roland is appealing to members for plastic toys, board games and books. Cuddly items and anything made of wood are not wanted.
